My New Bonnet

Earlier this year I went to Hancock Fabric and bought some pretty green fabric and some interfacing for a new bonnet. It has been forever since I've had a cloth bonnet and the fabric was practically telling me to buy it. ;) Well school and work soon got in the way and I misplaced everything I would need to make the bonnet. Well yesterday I found the fabric, interfacing, ribbon, and most importantly of all, the pattern! Before I went to work yesterday I cut out the pieces and started stitching the bonnet pieces together. After talking with my mom I decided not to use a sewing machine for this project. It will be all by hand this time (so feel free to pray for me). I am looking forward to seeing the finished product and cannot wait to try it on! Hopefully this weekend I will find some nice, quiet sewing time to finish it. What are some of y'all's sewing projects?

This is the pretty green fabric I mentioned, with just one of our cats in the windowsill. Little Miss Poppy wanted to watch me work. :)

I borrowed my Mom's straight pins as mine where elsewhere.I love the little jars she uses to store all her sewing things.

My pattern and breakfast. I normally do not eat a lot in the morning, just a little something to get my body going.

The pattern pieces waiting to be used to cut out the fabric.

Just in case any of y'all were wondering what pattern I was using. :)

I wanted to show what all I was doing with the hand sewing, and to prove that yes this will be all by hand!

Of course I also wanted to show you what it looks like so far! Aka crazy photo op! ;)

Cleaning My Broken Hoop Skirt

Okay I need to tell y'all something *very* important. I broke my hoop skirt the other day. Yes I broke my hoop skirt!!! I was so upset, and then partially relieved about it ;) It was stuck on part of the door and for some reason I decided to start pulling on it. It came loose alright, but it broke my bottom bone of the hoop. I contacted this sweet lady I know and she told me for $10 she will fix my , dare I say beloved, hoop skirt. So in preparation for sending it off to get fixed I decided I would clean it. Well I have never cleaned it before so I had no idea what I was doing! I ended up using spray and wash on it to get out all the dirt stains that were on the bottom of the hoop. If any of y'all have any recommendations for cleaning a hoop skirt let me know. I am open to any and every suggestions! Have a blessed day!
